Seagull Says: Boom, Baby—Here’s Where to Watch the Sky Explode

No weather. No crime. Just fireworks and freedom. You’re welcome.

🎆 FOURTH OF JULY FIREWORKS + FESTIVITIES

We’re taking the day off (kinda), but we did round up all the sparkle, smoke, and small-town celebrations happening up and down the OBX:

  • 📍DUCK
    Town of Duck Parade
9:00 AM – No part of this adorable parade touches Duck Road, but the red-white-and-blue vibes are strong. Route starts at Scarborough Lane and winds through town.

  • 📍ROANOKE ISLAND
    Island Farm Independence Day
9:00 AM–3:00 PM – Celebrate like it’s 1850: musket fire, Declaration readings, and traditional games. Admission $11 (3 and under free). Bring a picnic.

  • 📍OCRACOKE
Lots of fun since the fireworks were canceled this week! (Thanks, storms!)

    • 9:30 AM–Noon: Sand Sculpture Contest

    • 4:00 PM: Independence Day Parade

    • 7–10 PM: Beach Fire Under the Stars (bring your own marshmallows + existential thoughts)

  • 📍MANTEO
Downtown Manteo 4th of July Celebration
Starts 4:00 PM | Fireworks at Dusk – Small-town vibes with a decorated bike parade, apple pie contest, kids’ activities, and The Deloreans serving up live ‘80s jams. Food trucks, lawn chairs, and fireworks over the water seal the deal.

Bonus: Free Concert at Roanoke Island Festival Park
Gates open 6:00 PM | Music 7:45 PM – Divergent Soundz live, food trucks, merch, and a great spot to watch the fireworks.

  • 📍COROLLA
    Currituck Independence Day Celebration
5:00–9:00 PM at Historic Corolla Park – Free parking, live music, food vendors, and the biggest fireworks show on the OBX (their words, not ours—but we believe them).

  • 📍HATTERAS
Golf Cart Parade + Community Cookout
Parade at 6:00 PM | Cookout 5:30–7:30 PM – Start at Teach’s Lair Marina and roll through the village. Bonus points for glitter. Cookout + winners announced at the Village Center.

  • 📍AVON
    Avon Fishing Pier Fireworks Show
9:00 PM – Watch the skies light up from the pristine Cape Hatteras beaches. Tune in to Radio Hatteras FM 101.5 + 99.9 for the soundtrack.

  • 📍KILL DEVIL HILLS
    Fireworks Show at Avalon Pier
9:15 PM – You can’t be on the pier, but the surrounding beaches are fair game. BYO towel, chair, and patience for parking.

  • 📍NAGS HEAD
    Nags Head Fireworks Spectacular
9:25 PM at Nags Head Pier (MP 11.5) – Public beach access is your friend. No dune-stomping. No blocking private decks. No parking on NC12. Just be cool.

  • ⛴️Ferry Schedule – You can’t teleport to the Outer Banks (yet), so here’s how to float your way here the old-fashioned way.

  • 🐾OBX SPCA Pet of the Week (more like every 10 days): Onyx is a sweet, energetic guy who loves toys, car rides, and dishing out hugs like it’s his job. He came to the shelter after his family lost housing, and now he’s ready to love hard all over again.

  • 🌊Live Surf Cams – For “checking the surf,” but really just spying on beach traffic and seeing who already claimed your favorite spot.

  • 💬Submit a Tip or Event – Got a hot lead, weird sighting, or something the seagulls should be squawking about? Slide it our way.

🧂FINAL PEEP FROM THE PERCH

No crime, no weather, just fireworks and freedom. Try not to catch anything on fire that isn’t supposed to be, and we’ll see you back here Monday—hopefully with all your eyebrows intact.

Forward this to someone who thinks sparklers are harmless. (They’re not. Ask a picnic table.)

Sign up. Stay salty. Be nosy.
